Edmonton police investigate 3 shootings in 12 hours

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Police Service is investigating three shooting incidents that took place over the span of 12 hours.

The most recent incident happened around 7 a.m. Saturday in the area of 119 Avenue and 32 Street. Police said several shots were fired at an area apartment complex, but would not provide any further details.

Also Saturday morning, a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition after a shooting in the area of 133 Street and 155 Avenue. Police said shots were fired inside an area home around 5 a.m. The victim went to a neighbour for help while the suspect fled the area, investigators said.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. Officers said they believe the suspect and the victim knew each other, and that it was not a random incident.

The third shooting police are investigating took place on Friday evening in the Manning Town Centre parking lot. Officers say three people were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds. After a short pursuit, a man was arrested. Police said Saturday numerous weapons charged were pending.
