SASKATOON – Cory Millette is off to play for his third Western Hockey League team. The Saskatoon Blades traded the left winger to the Prince Albert Raiders on Thursday for a 2016 fifth-round draft pick.

Blades general manager and head coach Bob Woods said the deal was twofold – giving Millette an opportunity while allowing younger players to see action.

“We want to give some of our younger guys a bit more of an opportunity to play some more minutes,” said Woods. “In a rebuild, if you’re sitting two or three young guys a night, that’s not a good situation.

“With Cory being 19, we want to give him an opportunity to showcase himself, create a job for himself as a 20 (year-old).”

Raiders general manager Bruno Campese says acquiring Millette adds depth to the team’s forward group.
