TORONTO – U.S. Thanksgiving is more than two weeks away but that hasn’t stopped some hardcore shoppers from camping out in front of stores to ensure they are first in on Black Friday deals.
Bargain shoppers Vicky Torres and Juanita Salas have been camped outside of a California Best Buy since Nov. 5, according to the Bernardino County Sun.
“It’s cold, but it’s fun,” the women told the newspaper.
The pair camped out in front of the store last year to ensure they were first in line.
“Some people say we’re crazy,” Torres told the Banning-Beaumont Patch.
Black Friday, the day after U.S. Thanksgiving, is the unofficial kickoff to the holiday shopping season where many popular retailers open early and offer one-day promotions.
However, in recent years, Black Friday has been marred with violence, including shoppers being pepper-sprayed and trampled and parking lot shootings and robberies.
