Boston Bruins forward Seth Griffith has the entire sports world abuzz after putting away a goal of the year contender Monday night.

Griffith split the Devils’ defence as he crossed the blue line and, when New Jersey defenceman Marek Zidlicky spun him around, he slapped the puck backward between his own legs and through the five hole of goalie Cory Schneider.

The play got a big cheer from the sold-out TD Garden crowd – and an even bigger one when it was replayed on the scoreboard and fans could see in slow motion what had happened.

Griffith’s unreal goal had social media buzzing in the moments following the game, and has become a bona fide viral video sensation.

A Wallaceburg, Ontario native, Griffith was a fifth round pick of the Bruins in 2012.

He scored his first regulation NHL goal only a few weeks ago on October 21 against the San Jose Sharks.
