TORONTO – Police are looking for a male suspect after a poppy donation box was stolen from a Canadian Tire just four days before Remembrance Day.

The box was stolen from the Canadian Tire store at 14700 Yonge Street in Richmond Hill.

Police say the suspect walked into the store, went directly to an unattended cash register and slipped the poppy donation box underneath his coat before immediately leaving the store.

Police did not say how much was in the donation box when it was stolen.

Security cameras inside the store capture the suspect being dropped off at the store in a older model, red hatchback which was missing the hub cap from the front right tire.

Police describe the suspect as male, 5’11 and approximately 235 pounds, with a moustache, and heavy build. He was last seen wearing a black coat, navy blue shirt and dark pants.

Donation boxes are stolen every year during the fundraising drive across Canada. Last week, the Ontario Provincial Police said they were looking for two suspects they thought made off with donation boxes from Quinte West and Belleville.
