MOOSE JAW, Sask. – Moose Jaw police are trying to find the culprit who poisoned a family pet sometime last weekend.
According to Sgt. Cliff Froehlich, sometime between October 31st and November 2nd, an unknown person(s) entered a yard in the 1200 block of 4th Ave NE and proceeded to poison a five-year-old shih tzu bichon.
The culprit(s) fed the dog a hot dog that lab tests later determined to be laced with rat poison. Unfortunately, the pet died from the poisoning.
Froehlich says the motivation behind the crime is unclear but adds that a note was left for the homeowner.
“A type of intimidation or threatening type message was left, and we’re continuing to investigate that as well, and it appears to be in conjunction with the dog being poisoned.”
If you any information regarding this crime you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
