Angelina Jolie ponders political career

TORONTO — Angelina Jolie has admitted she is “open” to pursuing a political career.

The 39-year-old actress, filmmaker, and mother of six told Vanity Fair a run for office is possible.

“When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered,” Jolie told the magazine. “Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility.”

Jolie conceded she might be able to have more of an impact using her high profile outside the world of politics.

“I honestly don’t know in what role I would be more useful — I am conscious of what I do for a living, and that [could] make it less possible,” she said.

A longtime activist for human rights issues, Jolie is currently a special envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
