WATCH: Ron McKenzie, Shaw’s Vice President of Operations, discusses the Pumpkin Patrol
Shaw’s Pumpkin Patrol will be out in force tonight to ensure that communities across Canada enjoy a safe Halloween.
Now celebrating its 30th year, the Pumpkin Patrol will consist of Shaw vans that will patrol neighbourhoods as well as tents that will welcome trick-or-treaters. They will also hand out loot bags that include safety reflectors and a booklet of safety tips.
Halloween safety tips include:
- Wear a costume that fits well, has bright colours and is non-flammable
- Bring a flashlight
- Stay on the sidewalks (if there is no sidewalk, walk on the left-hand side of the street facing traffic)
- Walk from house to house. Do not run, cut across laws or take shortcuts
- Remove your mask when walking from one house to the next
- Never go inside houses and never go into vehicles
- Only visit houses that are well lit and stay away from animals you don’t know
- Don’t eat candy until an adult – at home – has checked them first
“This year we’re in 40 different communities all across Canada with over 500 of our employees volunteering tonight to help make it a safe environment,” says Ron McKenzie, Shaw’s Vice President of Operations.
