UPDATE Tuesday a.m.: RCMP have ruled that the body is not suspicious and that the file has been turned over to the coroner.
PENTICTON — RCMP confirm a body has been found in Penticton but are remaining tight lipped about further details.
Global News spoke to a witness, who says the body was found near Green Mountain Road.
Allan Kroeger helps maintain a piece of land near the location where the body was found.
He says he found the corpse of a white male, possibly in his 30’s, in a shed.
He says he believes the deceased is a homeless man because he’s seen him at the shed before.
He says that when he found the body, it already showed signs of decay.
“I was shocked. I’d been here a week earlier and somebody had been sleeping in there so I didn’t bother them and I came back today to drop off some debris and the guy was still in the same position so I checked his face, but his eyes were still opened and he’d been gone for a couple of weeks,” explains Kroeger.
RCMP say they may be releasing details Tuesday.
