EDMONTON — How soon is too soon when it comes to spreading holiday cheer?

While many are still preparing their ghosts and goblins for Halloween, the trees surrounding West Edmonton Mall have been lit up with Christmas lights for a few days*.

Global News asked a few people who were walking along Whyte Avenue Sunday what they thought of the decorations. The consensus so far? It’s too early.

“It’s too soon,” said Brenda Mackenzie. “It should be after Remembrance Day, otherwise it’s disrespectful.”

“Christmas is long enough. They should just put them up at the beginning of December. That would be great,” said Monica Bouma. “Anything before that is too much.”

“I think after Halloween is probably the best time for Christmas lights,” said Rhiannon Bonnell-Davies. “At least wait until that time has passed.”
