Boy, 17, faces several charges in wake of Etobicoke double murder

TORONTO – A 17-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a recent double murder near a Toronto school.

The boy – who cannot be named because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act – was arrested Tuesday and charged with several offences including pointing a firearm, and possession of a firearm as well as attempted murder.

Zaid Athir Youssef, 17, and Michael Menjivar, 15, were killed on October 6 shortly after 12:30 p.m. outside of the School of Experiential Education at 40 McArthur Street near Dixon Road and Islington Avenue.

The teen appeared in a Toronto courtroom Wednesday morning for a bail hearing.

Police have released six pictures of persons of interest in the shooting. The boys, who have not been named, are seen walking through a stairwell in the security footage released by police.
