Firefighters in Sammamish, Washington managed to help a baby deer out of a tight jam Monday afternoon.
Eastside Firefighters Engine 81 responded to a call about a baby deer whose head had become trapped between the metal bars of a park fence.
According to a post on their facebook page, firefighters Dane Stow, Jordan Simmonds and Matt Cuaresma set about trying to free the deer by using a Hydraulic Rescue Tool, otherwise known as the Jaws of Life.
In cellphone video taken from the scene of the rescue, the firefighters can be seen using their coats to shield the deer as they cut and bend the metal bars.
Eventually, the fawn manages to free its head, and after a few wobbly steps is off and running while spectators applaud.
According to the facebook post, the deer escaped the ordeal unharmed.
For firefighters, any call where everyone gets out okay and there’s no actual fire is a good day – but we’re guessing the men involved will especially remember this day.
