TORONTO – Tropical cyclone Hudhud is slowly crossing the Bay of Bengal as it sets its sights on India.
The storm is moving at roughly 11 km/h, producing fierce winds of about 185 km/h. It is expected to further strengthen before it makes landfall early Saturday in the southeastern region of Visakhapatnam along the southeastern coast.

The India Meteorological Department is calling for about 250 mm of rain for large parts of the region. It is also warning residents to prepare for high winds that could damage homes and trees, as well as cause disruption of power and communication.
The storm is expected to quickly weaken once it makes landfall.
