EDMONTON – After six decades in operation, the Edmonton Petroleum Club is closing its doors on 111 Avenue and 108 Street.
The decision was made at its annual general meeting.
“The board of governors will be actively seeking other or alternative venues to accommodate its members and their needs,” said Ronald Ryland, the club’s president.
The future of the club has not been outlined.
“What this will be, where this will be, and when this will be is what the committee and the board of governors will be recommending to the Petroleum Club’s members in the future,” said Ryland.
He said the club’s members will have the final vote on any recommended course of action.
There have been many memorable events at the club, including Don Iveson’s mayoral campaign launch.
The building has offered room rentals, catering and hosted events like weddings.
The club will stop operating out of the current facility at the end of 2014.
