TORONTO — The members of 4Count are doing something few other all-male groups are doing these days — they’re embracing the boy band label.

“We’re really big on performance,” explained Adam Ackerman during an appearance Tuesday on Global’s The Morning Show.

“We want to bring back the whole full-out performance of dancing, singing, entertainment and we feel like that’s kind of missing from the boy bands right now. We choreograph all our own stuff. Everything you see when you come to our live shows is all us.”

Ackerman, his brother Kieran Ackerman, Ben Robinson and Aaron Scott are American but were sent up to Toronto to develop the 4Count look and sound after being put together by Nick Cannon.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Kieran said their experience in Canada has been positive. “You guys definitely are nicer,” he said. “I know that’s a big joke but you guys are just nicer. Period.”

Added Adam: “It’s like a really crazy melting pot of so many different cultures [in Toronto],” he said. “There’s so many ethnicities here, it’s really cool.”

4Count’s self-titled debut album is out now and they’ll soon have a series on YTV.

“Four years ago we were like, ‘wow, imagine the day we release our own first album.’ Now that day is here,” said Robinson. “We’re living the dream.”
