UPDATE: Speed factor in deadly Colonsay, Sask. crash

COLONSAY, Sask. – A Manitoba man is dead after two vehicles collided at an intersection in a community southeast of Saskatoon late Monday evening.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. in Colonsay.

Mounties say the driver of a Dodge pickup was travelling northbound when he failed to yield and was struck by a Chevy pickup.

The driver of the Dodge, a 28-year-man from Sperling, Man., was ejected from the truck.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mounties say he was not wearing his seat belt and an autopsy has been ordered.

His name has not been released.

The driver of the Chevy, a 21-year-old man from North Cypress, Man. was not injured.

Saskatoon RCMP continue to investigate and believe speed to be a factor in the collision.

Colonsay is approximately 65 kilometres southeast of Saskatoon.
