OSOYOOS — A police dog is getting part of the credit for two drug busts in the south Okanagan over the weekend.
Both incidents happened in the Osoyoos area.
The first one happened on Saturday, Oct. 4 on Highway 3 where police pulled over a black Jeep TJ for a traffic violation.
Police noticed a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
A police dog named Jet uncovered five pounds of marijuana hidden in some speakers.
They also found some weapons including a machete.
The second drug bust happened on Sunday, also on Highway 3 where police had set up a roadblock.
RCMP say two vehicles, which appeared to be following each other, were pulled over. Police found dozens of pot plants in both vehicles along with a shotgun and a two-way radio.
The occupants, including a 71-year-old Surrey man were arrested on scene to face drug charges.
