KELOWNA — Kyla Williams is just two years old, but she’s fighting a battle most will never face in a lifetime. She has a neurological disease that gives her mild seizures, at first up to 100 per day. But that all changed when Kyla started taking marijuana oil.

While it sounds great, the problem is in the eyes of the government the treatment Kyla is receiving is illegal. Only dried leaves of the plant are allowed by the government for medical use, not marijuana oil.
A conference was held in Kelowna on Saturday, which focused on this government regulation. Advocates gathered to discuss the issue and raise awareness. They also raised money for Kyla and kids like her. A foundation has been established in Kyla’s name with the goal of making medical marijuana available in any form to all kids who need it.
