UPDATE: man in hospital after Yaletown home invasion

Vancouver police are investigating a home invasion at a Yaletown apartment building this morning.

Officers were called to 1221 Homer Street – a high-rise apartment complex – at roughly 1 a.m. after receiving reports that armed suspects had forced their way into a unit. They arrived to find a man who had been stabbed multiple times. The suspects had fled the scene, prior to the officers’ arrival.

The victim is 39. He was taken to hospital and had surgery early this morning. According to authorities, he is in serious but stable condition. There was another occupant in the apartment at the time of the home invasion, but that person was not seriously injured.

The Vancouver Police say the attack appears to be targeted. The victim has no criminal record, but he is known to police and they say he is believed to be associated with gangs and drugs.
