REGINA – The Saskatchewan Roughriders will start rookie Seth Doege against the Calgary Stampeders on Friday night.
Roughriders head coach Corey Chamblin made the announcement following Wednesday’s practice.
Doege replaces Tino Sunseri as the Riders’ starter.
Sunseri had made three straight starts for Saskatchewan (9-4) after incumbent Darian Durant suffered an elbow injury that’s expected to sideline him the remainder of the regular season.
The Riders were 1-2 with Sunseri as the starter and are coming off a 24-0 loss to the Edmonton Eskimos, Saskatchewan’s first shutout defeat since 1986.
