COLDSTREAM – Most people would love to have their kitchen upgraded with the newest appliances, but that’s not the case at one Coldstream property where the upgrades are designed to make the kitchen look more than a hundred years old.
The aim is to restore the room at the historic Mackie Lake House to the way it likely would have looked when the home was first built in 1910.
The restored kitchen making the home a better interpretative tool for students and others who tour the property.
“It is really important to tell them what it was like when the house was built and to show them this is what a wood stove is,” says manager Christine Kashuba.
The project which also included outfitting another room with a modern catering kitchen cost over 100-thousand-dollars.
It was funded by private donations.
