LONDON, Ont. – Police in London, Ontario, have arrested two people in the alleged theft of an oak box containing mementos of a baby who died in a collision this month.
Police say the box was stolen last week from a car belonging to the boy’s parents and located after the suspects were arrested in an unrelated matter.
They recovered several items, including a baby blanket, foot print book and knitted infant hat.
But still missing are a lock of the boy’s hair, full clay mouldings of the baby’s feet, a CD with baby pictures and a card with the baby’s name and date of his death on it.
The newborn was killed in a collision earlier this month and the child’s mother was taken to hospital.
Thirty-two-year-old Mark Barton and 34-year-old Amanda Fordham are both charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and possession of drugs.
Barton is also charged with a number of other offences unrelated to the investigation.
He remains in custody, while Fordham has been released with a court date of Oct. 10.
