CALGARY – Police say two people injured in an ATV crash outside of the city on Monday were visiting from Europe.

Strathmore RCMP were called to Highway 291 north of the Trans-Canada Highway around noon.

When they arrived, officers found a man and woman injured after losing control of the all-terrain vehicle they were riding.

Investigators say the ATV entered a ditch, ejecting the woman and pinning the man underneath the vehicle.

Both victims were rushed to the hospital in serious, life-threatening condition. They remain in the Intensive Care Unit.

RCMP are continuing to investigate the crash, but say it’s not likely that any charges will be laid.

Alcohol is not considered a factor, but it’s unknown if the victims were wearing helmets.
