REGINA – Yorkton MLA Greg Ottenbreit has been named the new rural and remote health minister by Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall.

This will be the first time Ottenbreit has served in cabinet.

“Greg Ottenbreit has been a strong member of our caucus, serving in a number of different capacities over the past seven years, and I know he will be a strong member of our cabinet,” said Wall.

“This portfolio is about listening to and understanding the concerns of rural communities, patients and health care providers. I know Greg will be a tireless worker when it comes to meeting with those individuals and bringing their health care concerns to the cabinet table.”

Prior to his appointment, Ottenbreit served as government whip. He will be replaced by Herb Cox.

Ottenbreit replaces Tim McMillan, who stepped down from cabinet last week to take the top job with Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers starting Oct. 1.
