Nanaimo RCMP officers don’t give up to find 7-year-old’s bike

VANCOUVER – Nanaimo RCMP officers with the Street Crimes Unit, GIS and Bike Unit were determined to make sure seven-year-old Falon got his bike back.

It had been stolen from the family’s yard and considering it was Falon’s first bike without training wheels, he was very upset when it went missing.

So the officers decided to make finding Falon’s bike a priority.

For several weeks they searched with no success, but when one of their officers visited a home that was well known to police, there was the bike.

Cpl. Don Helgeson and Const. Sarah Lefurgey delivered the bike to Falon on Sept. 22.

“His smile speaks volumes as your first bike is one you will never forget. We look forward to hearing from Shantel, Jay and Falon as he resumes hitting the pavement and enjoying his new found independence,” said Const. Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
