LETHBRIDGE – Police are searching for a man wanted in connection to the murder of a Lethbridge woman, earlier this week.
Police were called to the 400 block of 5th Street South around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday for reports of an assault.
The victim, 37-year-old Cynthia Pearl Badarm, was rushed to hospital.
Officers were able to locate a suspect. Lucien Maurice Crane Chief, 40, was charged with assault and released.
Badarm later succumbed to her injuries, and an autopsy determined she died of blunt force trauma.
Her death prompted police to upgrade the charges against Chief to second-degree murder.
A warrant has been issued for Chief’s arrest. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police at 403-328-4444 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police say Badarm and Chief were acquaintances.
