Charges laid after man allegedly stole minivan with 4-year-old boy inside

A 23-year-old man faces four charges after allegedly stealing a van Wednesday afternoon.

The van was taken from Alex Munroe Elementary School in Huntington Hills and crashed a short distance away, according to police.

The mother, who had been driving the van, left her four-year-old boy inside the vehicle while she picked up another child.

Fortunately, the boy wasn’t injured.

Investigators say the suspect fled on foot but was tracked to a nearby home.

Jordan Manuel Paim was arrested following the incident and charged with theft under $5,000, dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle.

Police said at the time it was believed drugs were a factor in the incident.

Paim pleaded guilty to the charges on August 17, 2015, according to Alberta Justice. He was fined $600 and given one year probation.
