Several crashes close Highway 2 near Blackfalds

EDMONTON – Multiple collisions in the area have forced RCMP to close Highway 2 northbound near the Blackfalds exit Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly before 2 p.m., officers said the major Alberta highway’s northbound lanes were closed between Highway 11A and Highway 597.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and take an alternate route.

The RCMP says it is unknown when Highway 2 will be clear for travel.
