With September being blood cancer awareness month, we’ll learn more about a rare type of blood cancer not a lot of people know about called Multiple Myeloma. Our guests at 6:45 will stop by to tell us about the 4th Annual Myeloma March happening in Bedford this weekend.

Halifax Poet Laureate El Jones will stop by the red table at 7:15 to give us a preview of her very first published book of poetry that will soon be available in stores.

At 7:45 we’ll catch up with Halifax’s famous “Cake Lady” who just returned from a trip to London – upon the request of the The Royal Family. She met Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall when they visited Halifax in the spring. The couple apparently enjoyed her cakes so much – they invited her to a private tour of the gardens at Highgrove estate. We’ll get the details!

The controversy surrounding off leash dog parks in the City of Halifax continues. The issue boiled over earlier this year when this city agreed to eventually close the popular Africville off-leash area. Now the city is looking for public opinion on how to move forward. At 8:15 we’ll talk with the Manager of Public Lands Planning with the city about the survey and the future of off-leash dog parks.

The summer festival scene is going out with a bang this weekend as the first ever Halifax Electronic Live Music Festival takes over the waterfront Saturday. At 8:45 we’ll get the rundown on the event from one of the organizers and learn more about this one-day two-stage event featuring a mix of over 25 big name and local DJ’s.
