MONTREAL – Time is running out for a Nigerian woman and her children.
Winifred Agimelen is fighting deportation to her native Nigeria – one that is expected to be executed Sunday.
Supporters are decrying her ordered deportation, especially since one of her children is born in Canada and her husband is a landed immigrant.
“Mostly i’m worried about my children – the safety of my children,” said Agimelen.
“There is so much violence in Nigeria and there’s news about kidnapping children. I’m so worried about that.”
Agimelen fled to Canada from Nigeria after her first husband vanished, thought to be killed by people his father owed money to.
The mother of three says she and her children were kidnapped as part of the ordeal.
Her daughter was threatened with genital mutilation.
If she goes back, she’s worried about Boko Haram, Ebola and what she will do financially.
