Prince William and Kate expecting 2nd child

WATCH: Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their second child. The couple is thrilled , but Kate is once again suffering from severe morning sickness. Stuart Greer reports.

TORONTO – Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, are expecting their second child.

Clarence House announced the news on Twitter Monday morning.

In an official press release, the Duchess has been suffering from severe morning sickness after announcing her second pregnancy.

“Her Royal Highness will no longer accompany The Duke of Cambridge on their planned engagement in Oxford today,” read a statement from The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official website.

The Duchess of Cambridge is currently under the care of doctors at Kensington Palace.

Prince William told well-wishers in Oxford that Kate should be over the worst of her symptoms in a few weeks.

“She wishes she could be here,” he said.

Prime Minister David Cameron said he was “delighted” by the news.

UK opposition leader Ed Milliband also added his well wishes.

The royal couple recently celebrated the 1st birthday of their son Prince George this past July.

William and Kate have often expressed an interest in having a larger family and Britain’s tabloid press has in recent months been filled with rumours about a possible pregnancy.

The new baby will become fourth in line to the throne, pushing Prince Harry to fifth. Prince George is third and likely to become Britain’s monarch one day.
