Laval man in custody after alleged groping spree

MONTREAL — A 26-year-old Laval man is in custody after allegedly going on a groping spree in the Fabreville district on Wednesday night.

Laval police said the suspect assaulted women between 20 and 25 years of age.

He approached his first victim late Wednesday night as she was jogging.

The incident happened near the intersection of Ste-Rose and Bellemar streets.

The victim told police that the suspect grabbed her arm, spun her around and grabbed her breasts. The young woman pushed the man away and ran off.

The suspect took off in the opposite direction, boarded a city bus and reportedly got off the bus two or three blocks later.

This was where he reportedly approached his second victim, a young woman who was riding her skateboard.

The suspect allegedly grabbed that young woman’s buttocks and breasts. This incident was witnessed by the first victim.

A third victim was assaulted in the same manner a short time later.

Police told Global News that the first victim was going in to her home when she saw the suspect walking on her street.

After watching as he got into a car and drove away, she called 9-1-1 and provided police with a description of the vehicle and license plate number.

The suspect was arrested at his home in the same area a short time later.

Investigators said the other victims saw the suspect grope a fourth young woman but that person has not yet come forward.

Police are going through case files from the last few months to see if similar assaults have been reported.

The suspect will appear in court in Laval on Friday to face various charges.
