St. Albert man identified as boater missing on Okanagan Lake
EDMONTON – Kelowna RCMP have confirmed a man missing on Okanagan Lake is from St. Albert.
Officers say 64-year-old Brian Lakevold’s boat was found abandoned in the middle of the lake Tuesday night.
RCMP say a local couple was boating on the lake near Kalmoir Regional Park when they collided with an unoccupied Malibu boat.
Officers say the boat did not have any lights on. After searching the boat, RCMP located some of Lakevold’s personal effects and the keys to the boat.
The search for Lakevold continues, although the search was stalled early Thursday afternoon due to heavy rain.
Investigators say they have confirmed with Lakevold’s family that he is in fact missing.
Anyone with information on Lakevold’s whereabouts, particularly on Tuesday afternoon, is asked to contact West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
Specifically, police are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen Lakevold or his maroon and white Malibu LXI after 2:30 pm Tuesday.
