SYDNEY, N.S. – Cape Breton Regional Police say a 46-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a standoff with officers following a shooting near Sydney, N.S.
Police say John William MacNeil surrendered without incident at his home on Point Aconi Road after a 90-minute standoff with police on Thursday morning.
They say he has appeared in provincial court on a charge of attempted murder.
Police say they were called to the shooting of a 24-year-old man at a residence at about 3 a.m. Thursday.
The victim was being treated in Cape Breton Regional Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to his leg.
Police say the men are known to each other.
