Nominations close for Alberta NDP leadership candidates

EDMONTON – There have been no last-minute entries in the Alberta NDP leadership contest.

Nominations closed Tuesday and the candidates are Rachel NotleyDavid Eggen and Rod Loyola.

All three had already declared their intention to run.

Notley and Eggen are both Edmonton members of the legislature, and Loyala is an NDP candidate in the next election.

The vote for a new leader to replace the outgoing Brian Mason is to be held in Edmonton on Oct. 18.

The New Democrats have also released information about candidates’ fundraising up to the end of July, which can be seen on the party’s website.
