CARAQUET, N.B. – A man is facing several child exploitation charges after an investigation by the province’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
RCMP say a 39-year-old man from Caraquet was sexually abusing a child that he knew. During a search of a residence in the northern community Tuesday, officers seized computers and data storage equipment they say included images of child sexual abuse.
Police also rescued a child from the residence.
The man cannot be identified to protect the identity of the victim.
He has been charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual assault and making child pornography. He is being held in custody to appear in court on August 28 in Caraquet for a bail hearing.
Police say further charges are possible.
