VANCOUVER – RCMP in Clinton have impounded a red Lexus, driven by a 19-year-old Langley resident.
Police say the car was travelling on Highway 97 near 83 Mile Road on Friday afternoon. The posted speed limit is 100 km/h and the Lexus was recorded going 194 km/h.
A police officer engaged his emergency equipment and stopped the Lexus.
Mounties say they have seen excessive speeds on this stretch of highway before and are concerned some motorists are jeopardizing the safety of all road users.
The teen driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed with a fine of $483 as well as a mandatory seven-day vehicle impound.
