Last August, a civil suit was launched against Shields and several other RCMP members by a former civilian member of the RCMP, Atoya Montague.

Montague alleges that she was sexually harassed by several officers beginning in 2003 until she left the force on sick leave in 2011.

An RCMP investigation into the Montague allegations against Shields determined there was no evidence to support the claims.

A source told Global News that the RCMP is planning to launch a statement of defense in the Montague case by the end of the week.

RCMP referred Global News to their 2013 statement on the Montague allegations when asked to comment on the Singh civil lawsuit.
