Missing 70-year-old Qualicum Beach man with dementia found safe

UPDATE: Iain Hollier has been found safe.

VANCOUVER – Search and Rescue crews and RCMP are looking for a missing 70-year-old man who went for his nightly walk on July 10 and has not been seen since.

Iain Hollier has advanced level dementia and may be very disorientated.

Police say he left his Qualicum Beach home, in the 600-block of Alder Street, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. When he did not return, his wife became concerned and called police.

Hollier does not have access to a vehicle.

He was last seen wearing off-white pants, a short sleeved shirt with white, pale blue and reddish stripes and a faded brown baseball cap with a happy face on it.

Hollier is described as 5’9″, 195 lbs, Caucasian, with a white beard with moustache. He is physically fit and capable of walking a significant distance. Also, the top half of Hollier’s thumb is missing from a prior injury.
