Watch: Bowling equipment stolen from B.C special Olympian

A B.C. special Olympian had her custom made gear stolen just weeks before she is due to represent our province at the nationals.

Kierra Stoneham is a ten-pin bowler.

She won a gold medal at last summer’s provincial special Olympics and was selected to represent B.C. at the 2014 Summer Games that will be held in Vancouver beginning July 8.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Sometime in the last couple of days, a thief snuck into the family’s backyard and stole her bowling bag with her two specially made ten-pin balls and her bowling shoes, a monetary value of about $500.

Local bowling club Sand Castle Lanes  is stepping in to replace Kierra’s bowling balls in time for the nationals, but her mother has this message for the people who took her daughter’s equipment.

“You know where you stole it from, if you could drop it back off, I do not want to charge you, I don’t want any trouble,” says Leslie Stoneham. “If you don’t want to come here, Sand Castle Lanes would be more than happy to take it.”
