WINNIPEG – Police say surveillance images helped them identify a suspect in a retail store fitting room Peeping Tom case.
A 33 year old man, who will police will only identify as being from “southern Manitoba” is charged with Voyeurism.
It happened June 17 at about 11:20 a.m. A female shopped in the St. Vital Old Navy was undressing in a fitting room and saw what appeared to be mobile phone being held above her. She ran out and informed staff; a man fled from the adjoining fitting room and out of the store.
Police say store surveillance video was key in tracking down a suspect.
“People need to know they are on camera all of the time, and that assists in investigations,” said police spokesperson Natalie Aiken.
Aiken said the case generated a lot attention
“This victim was basically in a position where there was an expectation of privacy,” said Aiken.
