VANCOUVER – A Surrey RCMP officer sustained minor injuries today when he was hit by a vehicle that was fleeing a traffic stop.
Mounties say at about 2:40 p.m., the officer was attempting to pull over a suspicious vehicle in the area of 88 Avenue and 156 Street when the driver refused to stop and struck the officer with the car.
The silver Toyota Matrix was followed to the area of 172 Street and 92 Avenue where both occupants ran from the car. After a short foot pursuit, involving a police dog, both the female driver and the male passenger were apprehended and taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing. Traffic is being rerouted in the area at this time.
