WINNIPEG – Judy Wasylycia-Leis is counting on a second chance with Winnipeg voters.

The former NDP MP launched her latest campaign to be mayor of Winnipeg, surrounded by supporters at Wightman Green on Ness Avenue Tuesday.

Her campaign slogan is “a city that works;” Wasylycia-Leis pointed to fixing crumbling roads and infrastructure as a top priority, but offered no details on a plan to get it done.

Wasylycia-Leis ran for the city’s top job in 2010 but lost to Sam Katz. Katz, mayor since 2004, hasn’t yet said if he’ll be running for re-election again.

Wasylycia-Leis becomes the seventh candidate for mayor of Winnipeg. The field also includes former St. Vital city councillor Gord Steeves, lawyer Brian Bowman, and Charleswood Coun. Paula Havixbeck.
