SHUSWAP — A major setback for a Shuswap area business that caters to tourists.
Someone has stolen all of the businesses segways — a two-wheeled, battery powered, stand-up vehicle.
Owner, Barb Rivest, says the theft happened Sunday at Unique Adventure in Scotch Creek.
She says the thieves took her eight segways and a utitility trailer by cutting the locks to a compound.
Rivest estimates the loss at $60,000.
She says the segways are useless to the thieves because they’re equipped with alarms.
Rivest says if they break down, fixing them will also be a challenge because the segway community is pretty tight.
“If you’re not in the segway system then they won’t get fixed,” she says.
The segways should be easily recognizable because they are equipped with extra-wide wheels.
Anyone with information is asked to call Chase RCMP or Crimestoppers.
