VANCOUVER – North Vancouver RCMP are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a woman in her 80s early Sunday morning.
Mounties say a man entered the woman’s home in the lower Ridgeway area of North Vancouver and sexually assaulted her. The woman lives on her own.
She was taken to hospital for an examination and is now in the care of family members and Victim Services.
This investigation is in its early stages with many of the details of the incident remaining unclear and being considered

It is not clear how the suspect entered the home or if this was a random or targeted incident.
This is an extremely unusual and highly concerning incident
, says De Jong. Police are taking this investigation very seriously and have a number of investigators actively working on the case.
Police do want to remind people that as the weather gets warmer, it is important to be extra vigilant and secure doors and windows at all times.
