MARTENSVILLE, Sask. – Six people were nabbed for drunk driving in the first hour of a check stop Saturday morning south of Martensville, Sask.
Mounties set up the check stop in the northbound lanes of Highway 12, just north of the Highway 11 overpass between midnight and 4 a.m.
In the first hour, six drivers were arrested for impaired driving. All had their driver’s licences suspended for 90 days and their vehicles towed.
They were all released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court in June.
Another person was issued a 24-hour licence suspension.
Around 450 vehicles were checked as part of Operation Overdrive, the May traffic safety initiative to reduce impaired driving.
Warman RCMP said check stops will continue throughout the spring and summer.
