Murder charges laid, after man run over on Siksika Nation

CALGARY- A Siksika Nation man has been charged with murder, following the death of his partner on Wednesday morning.

RCMP were called about a hit-and-run around 9:30 a.m., and were met by a man who admitted he had gotten in a fight with his partner, which resulted in him running him over with his vehicle. He told officers he disposed of the victim’s body in some nearby woods.

“The investigation revealed that there was an altercation that happened prior to the hit and run, and as a result of that altercation we discovered the remains of a 22-year-old male a couple of kilometres away from where the altercation happened,” explains Sgt. James McLaren from Gleichen RCMP.

41-year-old Jody Shane Wright has since been charged with second-degree murder, and indignity to a body. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 7.
