Nanaimo resident arrested for attempted murder following stabbing

VANCOUVER – A 37-year-old Nanaimo resident has been arrested for attempted murder following a stabbing on Wednesday night.

RCMP say at about 7 p.m. they received multiple 9-1-1 calls about a man who had been stabbed in the 500-block of 6th Street. Officers arrived on scene in about five minutes and found a 38-year-old man with life-threatening multiple stab wounds. He was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

The suspect was arrested a short time later and was taken into custody without incident.

He is expected to make an appearance in court today.
