CALGARY- A popular tourist road near Banff was shut down Wednesday, so RCMP could search for evidence as part of an investigation.
Vermillion Lakes Drive just west of the townsite was closed, to allow the Calgary Major Crimes Unit and the K Division special tactical operations team room to work. A K9 unit also conducted a grid search.
RCMP would not comment on which case the search was in relation to, only that they were acting on a tip.
The road, which is a popular thoroughfare for hikers and cyclists, was expected to reopen by Wednesday night.
