CALGARY- Commuters are being warned to brace for transit headaches, with some major projects getting underway.
The Barlow/Max Bell station will be closed throughout the long weekend for construction work, which is also tying up some lanes of Memorial Drive. The platform there is being extended to accommodate four car trains.
The Bridgeland/Memorial station platform is scheduled to shut down over the May long weekend, while the Calgary Zoo station platform will be replaced over the August long weekend.
“People have told us many times the trains are crowded, and they’d like to see four car CTrain service,” explains Ron Collins from Calgary Transit.
While the stations are shut down, shuttle buses will be brought in to move transit users.
60 new CTrain cars will be brought to Calgary by summer, with the four car service expected to be in full operation by late 2015. Click here for more information.
